ER experience...

Yesterday, I was sewing a blanket.  I went to adjust the fabric when I accidently pushed down on the foot pedal and the needle went right through my finger!  At first I didn't realize that the needle went through my finger, because i just saw thread sticking out of my finger.  So i went to go pull out the thread, but it wouldn't come out then I realized the needle was sticking out the back of my finger so I laid down just in case I passed out and called my mom.  As I was calling my mom I passed out waking up 30 seconds later confused at what had just happened until I looked at my finger with a needle sticking out of the back. The bad part about this story is Ryan wasn't home, he was at work and would be at work till late.  So, I frantically called my dad who couldn't understand a word I was saying.  Then I went to one of our next door neighbors and had then drive me to the ER.  I then called Ryan at work and the bartender answer and I told him that I had an accident and was headed to the ER and wanted to talk to Ryan.  The bartender told Ryan what I said and then Ryan got on the phone and I broke down crying and he thought it was something way worse like a bad car crash.  Finally I got my act together to tell him what had happened, and he rushed to the ER.  At the Er they gave me a tetanus shot and numbed my finger because I wasn't about to let them just pull that needle out! a few minutes later they pulled the needle out.  Then they had to took a few X rays to make sure it was all out.  I'm so glad that Ryan was there, I really couldn't have gone through that without him!  I'm also really relieved that this whole experience is over with!!!  Now I have to have this awesome bandage on my finger for the next 24 hours.  Yippe.

That is Smart of you that you laid Down in case you passed out. When Joel and I had been married only about 2 weeks, I was making dinner and had similar accident except I sliced my finger with a butcher knife. I didn't pass out, luckily but I just put a towel around my finger and WALKED to the Emergency Room. It was close to our apartment, but still, I COULD have passed out on the way. I hope your finger heals quickly and I'm glad, as I'm sure MANY other people are too, that it wasn't a car crash!

That was some scary experience! Who would've thought that sewing could be so dangerous! I bet the blanket is cute though. You are so creative and make such cute things! I'm glad you are ok and that Ryan could get off work to be with you in the ER!!

Love you,
Susan
